Head of School John Elmore

John C Elmore joined O’Neal School in June 2013 before taking over the role of Head of School in February 2014. He has worked in some of the finest independent schools in the country over his 28-year career, including Greens Farm Academy, The Hewitt School in New York, and now O’Neal School. He was previously the Upper Division Director and Director of Studies at Greens Farm Academy, where he led the programming for and oversaw upper-division needs, evaluated the curriculum, oversaw the divisional curriculum maps, was responsible for and supervised a large 教师 and staff, administered the divisional budget, and worked closely with the parents' association. In addition to Division Director, over the course of his career, Mr. Elmore has occupied a variety of roles, including science teacher, 顾问, Science Department Chair, Director of College Counseling, Summer School Director, and Assistant Head of School.
 
At O’Neal School, he leads a thriving, 40-acre campus that is home to approximately 480 students and 90 教师 and staff. Under his leadership, the bar has been set high to grow O’Neal School into a nationally regarded, top-tier independent day school.

Mr. Elmore graduated from Grinnell College with a degree in biology.  He holds a master's degree in Religion and Ethics from Yale University.  He and his wife, 丽莎, are parents to Sarah Elmore who is currently attending Ringling College of Art and Design.
